  • Description: If you have half a mind to join the Hash, that's about all it takes! If you have hashed before you will know the format but for the newcomers here's a quick rundown on what happens. On Tuesday evenings throughout the year - summer and winter - the Hash meets at a pub within a 10 mile radius of High Wycombe. The "ON" is given at 7.45 p.m. (19.45 to you 24 hour merchants) so it is a good idea to arrive by about 7.40. The Hash sets off along a clearly defined trail (blobs of flour with check points) and it’s your job to help the pack find the way around. We get back to the pub at around 9.9.15 where we indulge in the Hash slogan “Drinkers with a running problem)

  • TRIbe Triathlon

  • Description: October 15th 2000 was the dawn of a new era in U.S. Triathlon with the formation of TRIbe Triathlon Club. It had been 5 years since an American won Ironman World Championships in Hawaii (Mark Allen '95) until Mr. DeBoom went and showed the world what the U.S could do, at a time that America needed some victories It will be another 2 years before we can reclaim our rightful spot as the leaders in multi-sport performance with a win at the Athens Olympics. The U.S. will only increase its competitiveness in multi-sport races with the development of a ever changing cadre of professional triathletes. It is this need for development of U.S. athletes and the never ending quest for improved performance that led to TRIbe's creation. Through our membership dues and sponsorships from leading companies, TRIbe is sponsoring 3 promising young professionals for the 2002 racing season. Erin McCarty, Eileen Dunne and Andy Kelsey will receive travel assistance to attend bigger U.S. races in order to attract the attention of potential sponsors, additionally they will receive bonuses for top 3 finishes. In previous seasons TRIbe has sponsored Eric Bean, Chad Hawker, Victor Plata (who went on to the Sydney Olympics) Becky Gibbs and Alexis Waddel who have "graduated" from the program and have gone on to bigger and better things. TRIbe is challenging other Tri Clubs throughout the nation to copy this program and to sponsor their own local professionals. TRIbe members also have to make a commitment to the sport. We seek dedicated, passionate athletes who look for continuous improvement. We offer these dedicated athletes an environment to meet other like-minded athletes and to benefit from Tribe's affiliation with top companies and coaches. In 2001, Members will benefit from four training camps run by our pros and by other top name athletes and coaches. In 2002 we'll continue to provide high quality training camps free of charge to our members. In 2001 we were founder members of the BAY AREA TRIATHLETE LEAGUE and took part in all of the races that made up the BEST OF THE BAY competition. In our first year and against much larger clubs, we took a 2nd place runner up. With BATL being replaced with the Folsom Tri Club Championships we're confident that we'll continue to be the club to beat. In the 2 seasons that we've completed, we've been the Wildflower Long Course Champions beating out LA Tri Club whose membership is 10 times ours In conclusion, TRIbe never set out to be the biggest tri club, we didn't want to attract people who did a triathlon seven years ago or who thought they may do one next year. We seek the dedicated, passionate (OK, obsessed) triathletes of the Bay Area, people who TRIbe was formed to provide a community for dedicated, passionate triathletes- people who know the rewards of training and competition. People who strive to be the best at everything they do, both in their careers and their sport. People who embrace challenge. People who appreciate a 5:30 am track workout or masters session. People who know the satisfaction of finishing a long bike ride or stepping up to race a distance they have yet to attempt. If this sounds like you, join TRIbe today.
